Orthodontic treatments offer a great way to a beautiful, even smile.
With the additional time that many of us have involuntarily had over the last few months, we may have idled some of it away by dreaming, or looking in a mirror and thinking that there are some things we would like to do to improve our appearance.
The first step towards this for many, will likely have been a trip to the newly opened hairdressers for a long overdue haircut. Others though, will possibly be looking at longer term goals as well.
One problem that we may have noticed about our appearance, and especially when we smile, is something that happens over time and which cannot be corrected overnight. We are talking about uneven or crooked teeth of course.
As teeth start to leave gaps or to overlap, they not only spoil an otherwise attractive smile, but can also make cleaning more difficult and potentially lead to oral health issues such as decay and gum disease.
So if you have been considering doing something about your crooked teeth, the Synergy Parkside Dental Centre can help!
One of the most popular orthodontic systems available at our Woking practice to correct uneven teeth is Invisalign. This system uses an entirely different method to traditional braces. Whilst older style braces use a series of wires and brackets that exert pressure on your teeth to reposition them, Invisalign uses a series of plastic trays to the produce the same effect. These trays are made from impressions that we take of your own teeth and use a high quality medical grade transparent plastic. This customised method means that any discomfort is minimised, with each tray applying a small amount of pressure to gradually coax your teeth into the correct position.
The trays are transparent and are fairly discreet when wearing, indeed they are barely visible to those around you. They are also removable and should be taken from the mouth when you are eating and when you brush and floss your teeth in the morning and evening. It is important to make sure that both your teeth and the trays are cleaned well before you return them to your mouth. Failing to do so could mean that sugars, acids and bacteria are trapped between the tooth enamel and the trays.
We are currently offering a free consultation and free scan for potential Invisalign patients. Why not contact us on 01483 766355 to find out more?
Whereas Invisalign orthodontics are often used when rear teeth need straightening as well as those at the front, there are a number of dental braces that are used largely for cosmetic improvements of those teeth that are visible when you smile; i.e. those at the very front of the mouth, sometimes referred to as the ‘social six’. Because these are single rooted teeth, they can be encouraged to correct their position much faster, sometimes in as little as 6 weeks. We have found the Inman Aligner to be one of the most effective methods of doing this and we are pleased to tell you that this system is now available at our Woking practice.
Like Invisalign, the Inman Aligner is a removable brace that can, and should be, removed whilst eating meals and when cleaning your teeth. This is one of its key benefits over some other cosmetic braces. It uses two opposing coiled springs to exert the necessary pressure to straighten any crooked teeth.
As with all orthodontic treatments, it will be necessary to have a consultation so that we can examine your teeth and help to determine which particular system would offer most benefit for your individual circumstances. You can also be assured that we will monitor you throughout the process to ensure that you get the best smile possible.
We understand that some of you may be hesitant about wearing a dental brace, yet still want to improve your smile. We feel that both of these treatments offer a great way to do this in a relatively discreet manner. The Invisalign system is so discreet that it is barely noticeable whilst the Inman Aligner, whilst not being quite as ‘invisible’, does use tooth coloured materials to blend in with your natural teeth and only usually has to be worn for a relatively short period of time.
Once you have seen your new smile, we are sure that you will be delighted. Remember too that decay and gum disease are less likely as your new, even teeth will be easier to keep clean.
If you are considering having your teeth straightened and would like to talk to us about the treatments we have available, please contact Synergy Parkside Dental Centre to arrange a consultation on 01483 766355. We look forward to seeing you and starting your straight smile journey!
